The leading cause of blindness in adults over 40 is the degeneration of the macula of the eyes, called destroys sharp, central vision that helps you see fine details. Lutein is a yellow-orange carotenoid that may offer significant protection against macular degeneration. Lutein and zeaxanthin are protective carotenoids that absorb harmful blue light, especially from exposure to the sun. These pigments are able to absorb harmful blue light and reduce damage due to sun exposure. Lutein may also help prevent vision becomes cloudy, caused by solar damage to the lens.
